Top Eco Theme Park for family fun!

Xcaret is a beautiful eco archaeological park located in Riviera Maya, in the Mexican Caribbean Sea shore.

In 1984, Architect Miguel Quintana Pali, captivated by the spot´s natural beauty, purchased 12 hectares of this wonderful parcel with the idea of building his dream home. However, when he began to clear the land, he started uncovering cenotes formed by collapsed cave ceilings weakened by 3 million years of erosion from underground rivers running through them and flowing into the sea. He felt that so much beauty should not be accessible only to a privileged few. He then decided to create a park where everybody could access the natural wonders of the region.

With the idea of a tourism development that would add to the attractions of the region, a group of Mexican entrepreneurs with a very clear vision of the future trajectory of tourism in the State of Quintana Roo purchased the land surrounding Xcaret. In December 1990, Xcaret was opened as an eco-archeological park where visitors from all over the world can enjoy the splendor of Mexico’s biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Nowadays you can find amazing attractions in Xcaret, like underground rivers, the first Butterfly Pavilion in Mexico, a Natural Coral Reef Aquarium, a nursery for regional fauna, which has received recognition from Guinness World Records for having achieved the highest number of macaws born in the same facility during a year, and the delightful shows and ceremonies that have been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
